PAN is known as permanent account number and is ten digit alphanumeric number that is provided by the IT department to an individual who applies for the same. PAN can be applied online. Additionally, requests for modification or change in PAN information may also be done online.
Online PAN card apply can be done on the NSDL or UTIITSL website.
Both have been certified by the government of India to provide the PAN or to make modifications or corrections in the PAN on part of the Income Tax Department. Online procedure is the most problem free method of getting PAN.
Here are the steps to apply PAN online:
1: Put forward the PAN card application Form 49A present on the NSDL Website.
2: Fill all the information in the form. Go through the complete details before providing the information in the form. 
3:  Mode of payment:
The payment for applying for PAN is Rs. 107 (involving service tax) for Indian communication address and Rs. 994 (involving service tax) for distant communication address. Payment of application charges can be completed via credit or debit card, demand draft or internet banking.
4: Documents to be sent to NSDL
Once the application and payment is taken, the candidate is needed to deliver the supporting documents via courier or post to NSDL. Documents involve one identity proof, one address proof and one proof of DOB.
